In September of 2005, I received a rather desperate call from a bride whose wedding was only one week away.  Apparently she could not get a hold of the DJ she booked nearly a year earlier.  The e-mails she sent him were returned undeliverable and his cell phone had been disconnected.  Of course, I could spend an hour addressing this issue alone . . . but there is so much more to this story.

In August of 2008, I was blessed to have the opportunity to work for a wonderful couple by the name of Heidi Todd & Barry Rockburn.  Nearly everything about their wedding day was customized.  It was a beautiful sunny Sunday at the Bartley Ranch in South Reno.   The wedding ceremony was to take place in the Hawkins Amphitheater, a location that had its share of challenges.

I have had many great achievements throughout my professional career.  But none more amazing than my fortunate association with entertainment legend Dick Clark.  I have been a fan of his since I was a child.  When I became a DJ, as a young adult, I grew more and more appreciative of him and the indelible mark he has left on our profession.

So needless to say, when I first met him in 1995 . . . it was the thrill of a lifetime.  Coincidentally, I became friends with his family which, in turn, grew our friendship even closer.  So imagine my surprise when, in 2003, I get “the call” to personally DJ and Emcee the wedding reception for one of Dick Clark’s immediate family members.

To fully understand and appreciate this story, you first have to understand just how close Shaina is to her grandfather.  One of the great highlights of her upcoming wedding day was to have him fly over from England.  They are extremely close.

I attended the ceremony rehearsal the day before the wedding so as to direct the bridal party through this important walk-through, at which point I learned the sad news that grandpa did not take the flight well and upon touching down at the Reno / Tahoe International Airport, was rushed to Renown Medical Center.  Shaina was a wreck and cried throughout the rehearsal.
