The Lake Tahoe Dine-Around
by Jeremy Miller
On Wednesday October 15, 2008 The National Association of Catering Executives (NACE) held their monthly meeting on the south shore of Lake Tahoe.
This progressive event began at Cliché’s Lounge in Harrah’s for appetizers (Lamb Chops, Jumbo Prawn Skewers, Ceviche and Salmon Pate) where they unveiled a new Martini which bore the “NACE” name.
As the tour of Harrah’s 16th floor began, the group marveled at the astounding views of the new Summit Convention Room overlooking the Lake Tahoe basin. The group was then introduced to two Professional Butlers. These gentlemen exuded elegance from their proper and eloquent demeanor down to their sharply polished shoes and white gloves. They care for guests in any of the themed presidential suites available on the 17th floor. Only one word describes these rooms, “WOW.” Let’s just say you don’t see TV’s mounted inside a bathroom mirror every day.
From Harrah’s the group took the underpass below Hwy 50 to Harvey’s Cabo Wabo for dinner. A fun spread of Wabo favorite’s like Fajitas, Quesadillas, Chips & Salsa and of course Waboritas. As everyone’s attention was called in the exclusive Red Rocker Room the group was joined by Aaron Hagar, Sammy’s son who runs Cabo Wabo Lake Tahoe. He explained the fun lifestyle that the Hagars hope to spread through great food and fun drinks.
The next stop took everyone to Embassy Suites for dessert. The room was full of comfortable lounge style furniture and had a beautiful fall inspired decor. The themed spread of desserts left everyone in awe (Pumpkin Crème Brule, Candied Apples and Chocolate Shots of Rum.)
Toward the end of the night over $300 of raffle prizes was given away and a strong emphasis on the NACE “Christmas in November” event was given. The Event Professional Spotlight was Thran’s Flowers from SLT which displayed unique centerpieces and room decor.
